Here’s another great pic from Dragon Con – a steampunk belly dancer! She looks so great.

I tried to find some Dragon Con steampunk bellydancing on Youtube, but nothing turned up. I did, however, find this awesome video of steampunk belly dances from a Ren Faire last spring. Very cool!

Steampunk X-Men

Behold, the glory of the Steampunk X-Men!

This group was at DragonCon 2009 and in my opinion stole the show. Well done!

Steampunk Boba Fett

Steampunk Boba Fett

A steampunk Boba Fett was been spotted this weekend at Dragon*Con. How cool is that? Yes, everything is better with brass and rivets.

Here’s another photo of Steampunk Boba Fett posing with actress Felicia Day.

Jayne Hat - Firefly What kills me about this second photo is that it looks like Boba Fett is wearing Jayne’s hat from Firefly!!?

“Jayne” is a character from Joss Whedon’s Sci Fi Western, Firefly. In one of the episodes, Jayne receives an ugly hat from his mother.

Wow, what a bizarre crossover. I love it. Here’s a clip from Firefly where Jayne receives his hat.

Literature Strangely Absent from SteamCon

Steampunk Costume

I09 has an interesting article about the upcoming SteamCon on Oct. 23-25 in Seattle.

This year, you won’t be able to buy books. Huh? That’s like going to a Comic-Con without comics.

Long before steampunk costuming and fashion became so popular, steampunk was born and bred in novels. From H.G. Wells, Mark Twain and Mary Shelley, to modern novelists such as James Blaylock, Tim Powers and George Mann – steampunk is first and foremost Literature.

The good news, io9 points out, is that SteamCon still has time to secure a bookseller for the dealer’s room.

With the con still a couple months out, there’s still time for the organizers to make a renewed effort to get a bookstore in there….Steam-powered metal piston fingers crossed!

Despite lack of books, I’m sure SteamCon will be filled with awesome gadgets and costumes. I wish I lived near Seattle so I could go!
