   Posted by: manny

Ready for some steampunk virtual golf? Coming soon from Surprise Attack Games is Vertiginous Golf, a first person mini golf game, set in an alternate steampunk universe. Travel from a rainy Victorian world up into the sunny skies, where a huge realm of mini golf awaits you! Early access opens in March, 2014, and the current price of the game is only $10 if you buy now.

Vertiginous Golf is a physics based first person exploratory mini golf game set in a steampunk alternative universe. You travel from a Victorian world of eternal rain to a sun-drenched realm high above the clouds known as the Vertiginousphere, where a game of equally challenging and relaxing mini-golf awaits you. Vertiginous Golf elevates mini golf to a more mature level than the typical casual and child-orientated mini golf games currently available.

Steampunk Batman Game that Sadly Failed

   Posted by: manny

I’m so sad this Steampunk Batman game will never see the light of day. But at least we get a sneak peek of what could have been!

Based on the comic Gotham by Gaslight, Batman goes after Jack the Ripper in the late 1800′s. Don’t you just love his cape? This would have been so cool!

Day 1 Studios, the developer behind of F.3.A.R. and Fracture, was also working on a video game starring Batman. Their vision was to use the one-shot comic Gotham by Gaslight as the source material. Set at the end of the 19th century, Gotham by Gaslight follows the Dark Knight as he tracks down Jack the Ripper. Concept art for the game revealed Gotham by Gaslight’s steampunk vibe.

Now, we have a better look at what Gotham by Gaslight would have been like thanks to an animation prototype video from a source at Day 1 Studios.

Steampunk Playing Cards for Sale

   Posted by: manny

Theory11 sells some rather cool looking steampunk playing cards, definitely worth checking out. The paper they use is “custom bronze-effect paper stock,” and I think it works nicely.

For only $5.95, it’s a good deal!

Opening the box, you will discover 52 pieces of machinery. The depth of the playing cards is fittingly unreal. So unreal, it beckons you to stare at it’s seemingly infinite array of detail. Designed by Alex Beltechi and constructed of 12 million 3D polygons. The Jokers are morphed into jet turbines of steel. The Ace of Spades is a window of opportunity to witness the gears of intricate beauty and complexity.

3D Printed Steampunk Dice

   Posted by: manny

Here’s an interesting gift idea for the steampunk gamer… steampunk dice! MechanicalOddities uses their 3D printer to make these unique dice. The number of gears on each side represent a number from 1-6. Very cool idea! For $11.50, this is a very nice and affordable gift idea, indeed.

This unique die was designed and modeled in the computer. We used our in house 3D printer to literally print it one thin layer at a time and then infused it by hand. It has been hand painted to a bronze-like finish. A cool present for the gamer or Steampunk fan in your life.

The dimensions are
in inches: 1 x 1 x 1
in centimeters: 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5

Free Steampunk Role Playing Game

ladyblackbird

A company called OneSevenDesign is giving away a free steampunk RPG to anyone who’s interested. Called Lady Blackbird, the game centers around the title character and her adventures aboard The Owl ship.

Sounds great! You can download the PDF instructions here:

lb_pages

Lady Blackbird is a steampunk adventure module for 2-6 people. It contains a starting situation, setting, pregen characters, and quick-play rules perfect for a no-prep game of 1-6 sessions or more.

Lady Blackbird is on the run from an arranged marriage to Count Carlowe. She hired a smuggler skyship, The Owl, to take her from her palace on the Imperial world of Ilysium to the far reaches of the Remnants, so she could be with her once secret lover: the pirate king Uriah Flint.

HOWEVER, just before reaching the halfway point of Haven, The Owl was pursued and captured by the Imperial cruiser Hand of Sorrow, under charges of flying a false flag.

How will Lady Blackbird and the others escape the Hand of Sorrow?

Go. Play. And find out.

Backlash: Steampunk iPhone Game

   Posted by: manny

If you own an iPhone, you can now download Backlash, a steampunk game! From what I can tell, it looks like Steampunk Pinball. Sounds like a great way to pass the time for only a dollar.

Flick a ball through 40 levels of a giant machine in a unique steampunk inspired puzzle experience.

Use your wits in combination with pieces of the machine that speed you up, slow you down or blow you clear across a level as you guide the ball through the depths of the machine.

Backlash features a highly-detailed environment, challenging levels, crisp artwork and realistic artwork wrapped in a challenging single-player experience. Try to outsmart the machine’s internal security system as you figure out the least amount of bounces to the goal in Challenge Mode or learn the levels at your own pace and have fun messing around in the aptly named Free Play.

Original game music graciously provided by Chemtrail

Features:
1. 40 Unique Levels
2. Challenge Mode with cumulative scoring
3. Free Play
4. Realistic ball physics
5. Unique steampunk environment
6. Music by Chemtrail

Steampunk Mystery Night in St. Paul

   Posted by: manny

Steampunk Mystery

If you live in the St. Paul, MN area, you could have a lot of steampunk fun at the next Steam Century Mystery night!

Saturday, November 21st
Doors open at 5. Mystery begins at 5:30
1644 Summit Avenue | St Paul, MN
$6 in advance / $10 at the door
Purchase Tickets

The Steam Century Mystery is a multifaceted game that combines elements of live action role-playing and crime dramas. Players follow a trail of clues by investigating rooms and interacting with costumed characters. This game is a cross between the How to Host a Murder games and a more traditional Live Action Role Playing Game.

Our mystery events are role playing games in the sense that we, the cast, stay in character. Players are invited to play in character with us at their comfort level. Some of our fans have more concrete steampunk characters they developed so they can “live” in our world with us. We also have players who just play the game to solve the mystery and the puzzles and don’t worry about pretending to be any kind of character.

This sounds like a blast, what a fun group of people.

Here are a few teaser photos of the upcoming event. So be sure to grab your steampunk costume and get ready to solve a mystery!

For more information, visit Steam Century.

Steampunk Video Game: Guns of Icarus

   Posted by: manny

Guns of Icarus

A new browser-based video game should be released any very soon from Muse Games, called Guns of Icarus.

With tagline, “This is not the future I expected,” the player controls a steampunk airship and shoots down other airships and planes while performing missions. Looks pretty fun!

The video trailer says, “Play it Oct. 12″ but it has not yet been released on Muse’s site, which only states “Coming in October.” So I expect this game to be available at any time.
